the role of cbr is to enable people with disabilities to access work opportunities, by actively promoting and facilitating the acquisition of relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes. first, employers are looking for candidates with a strong sense of responsibility and this is inculcated through the core life skills training; local employers know that graduates of the leprosy mission centres have high personal standards. core life skills consist of the attitudes, knowledge and personal attributes necessary to function in the world. there are a number of ways by which people with disabilities can learn and develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to earn their livelihood. as a result the child with disability is unable to learn useful skills and is prevented from making a contribution to the household or family enterprise.
