practically every veteran who had a tough time with the program agreed. meanwhile, voc rehab counselors wrote in about how insulted they were. i think when a person works for the va machine, that they have to expect a degree of insult. on vantage point, the va’s newest attempt at putting lipstick on the pig, the federal employees tell you what you need to think about other sources of information. click here to download their new va benefits manual pdf. go to the bottom of page 29 to read about vocational rehabilitation. read the pages. can i use the program more than once? (mine is more about the questions voc rehab counselors don’t answer.) after all, i’m not here to see who has the biggest tractor.
i have a hunch many of you will get more bang for your buck (time reading) out of this blog post than from their va benefits guide on voc rehab. see if it answers any of the fibs in part 2 that voc rehab counselors tend to tell veterans. counselors will count on the following when you first meet with them: this comes into play when you’re about to finish your educational track or training track and realized you cannot find a job with your degree. a degree in accounting would be the opposite, where you can usually find a job as an accountant. meanwhile, the va guide does mention that limitations can be extended but doesn’t tell you how to get it done. i mean, with a pretty healthy budget, and the vantage point telling you the va wants to do more, why can’t the va do more? the above benefits guide touted by the va above gives no mention of the types of degrees a veteran can obtain. during most initial meetings with voc rehab counselors, veterans are told what types of degrees they can obtain. again, not all va employees are bad; however, when it comes to my hard earned benefits, i always like to get the facts first. better you go in armed than ignorant.
i applied for vr so i can go back to school and was wondering how it would work… i plan on applying for a phd program and was looking for any input. i read on another post that a vet used it to get his masters and they extended it past the initial 48 months of benefits. i hope i’m able to get into the department of genome sciences to study proteomics, just wanted to mention incase it mattered. i used my vr for grad school i got an ms. it extended past my eligibility. i just focused on my undergrad gpa and my success as a student. you also have to focus on what you ultimate career is going to be and how you can’t do it without that degree. at the end of the day though, i’m not sure it’s going to make a difference if they don’t want to do it or can’t do it. just continue to do your research on what you’re entitled to. hell i even applied for like 100 jobs all over the world on usajobs and only got referred for one and it was a recent graduate program. that was like a at least 8 months ago… i’m using voc rehab for grad school (physical therapy).
i was advised that a phd wasn’t an option but an ms or ma was. i applied to a school and had everything set up but had to put it on hold for a new job. however, that is okay! you can still use any entitlement on your gi bill if you have any. i’m a federal employee i received employment through usajobs. it’s just a grind and you have to keep going. you’re probably going to have to relocate for a good stem job so that is good that you’re willing to. focus on that and how you want to be a stem veteran because there is not a ton of those types lol. try to stay away from your undergrad student experiences or focus on how it was difficult for you to adjust to school and you feel more prepared now. at the end of the day though, if it is nearly impossible for you to have gainful employment without a advanced degree, then you have to be prepared to finance that yourself. i feel like i need a team to guide me through the application process!
truth: a veteran can obtain a graduate level education through chapter 31 voc rehab, period. there are many board of appeals claims you can find online where the veteran won his or her claim requesting payment of a graduate degree. it happens, just not that often. there, that’s enough to get things moving. a bachelor’s degree is pretty useless around here in stem fields, just about every job post prefers masters and phd. this is definitely true that vr&e is telling veterans that they do not pay for masters degree. they also tell, will voc rehab pay for masters degree in accounting, va vocational rehabilitation pay chart, va vocational rehabilitation pay chart, va vocational rehabilitation pay for college, will voc rehab pay for doctorate.
