i tried a bro split for the first 9 months or so but didn’t see great results. for the past few months i’ve been doing a ppl routine that i came up with. as you can see, there is a mix of strength and hypertrophy training for each day. should i change the hypertrophy parts of my routine to more strength-focused? i want to try it but at the moment i’m behind on coursework. i’ll give it a go in a couple of weeks when i’m caught up and see if i can handle it. also you seem to have the misconception that low rep is only strength and high rep is only hypertrophy. it’s a mix.
if anything, you might want to use a wider spread between your heavy work and your volume work; fives and eights aren’t far apart. i say leave it the way it is and continue forward, no need to remove the isolation work you have in there. the current layout should also work fine during a hypertrophy phase. tbh when you are doing ppl you need to hit everything twice a week. for now, since you said you are busy with coursework i guess you can continue to do that routine, but you will definitely hit a plateau until you start training ppl 2 times per week. lastly, you should really be looking into taking a ppl routine created by someone who knows what they are doing. you can search google for popular ppl routines. volume is way too low here for real results. your workout is both short and only 1x / week.
