i then took a job in wireless retail sales, which i’ve been in for the last ~4 years or so (~3 of which as management), and i can’t stomach it any longer – as such, i’ve vowed to call it quits by the time we hit 2019 regardless of whether i have something lined up at that point or not. so with all of that said, the cert by no means guaranteed me anything, but it did end up giving me the opportunity to actually get an interview for a position that i otherwise would not have gotten, and from there i was able to leverage my soft skills to convince my now-boss to take a chance on someone less experienced. it covers a broader swath of topics and at least in some of the later sections arguably more relevant topics than the a+, but i would imagine that many hiring managers would need to google it to even know what it is at this point.
virtually no cert guarantees a job, but it can help get through some hr filters where if you have the right personality that they are looking for and sound competent you have a chance. what kind of specific job titles should i be searching for that you think would be a good fit? my retail management experience is more in the 2.5-3 year range if that makes a difference, though i will say leadership isn’t exactly what i’m looking for anymore (at least for the time being) which would be another good reason to tone it down. i know you mentioned in your original post you want to make 75-100k usd, but knowing where you’re at determines obviously cost of living and more importantly, if your salary expectation is under-market, at-market, or above-market.
