7 continents lesson plans

the seven continents introduces students to some basic information about each of the seven continents on this earth. in addition, they will be able to name and locate the continents on a globe or world map. the “options for lesson” section of this lesson contains a few additional suggestions that you might want to incorporate into your lesson. lesson objectives and overview: the seven continents teaches students all about these seven masses of land on our earth. students will learn about some of the countries that make up each one. by the end of the lesson, they will be able to locate each continent on a globe or world map. the first page explains what a continent is a describes that the united states is in north america. students will then learn how to order the continents by land mass. for instance, students will learn that the mississippi river is the third largest river in the whole world. it is both the windiest and coldest place on earth.

for the activity, students will label each land mass and color them different colors. then they will cut around the borders and glue each onto construction paper to create a world map. they will have to match the facts to the continent it represents. a word bank contains the names of each for students’ reference. for the first section, students will reference the map at the top of the page. for the second section, they must look at 20 countries and write which continent they belong to. there were a few typos, however, in 3 of the 4 downloads. all in all, it is such a help. their work is always very well done and professional. easy to follow, both teacher and student alike!

4. i give a fact about continent or ocean, and student answers by saying the correct continent or ocean (questions already typed up and same questions will be mirrored and imitated in the post-assessment) 2. as i teach, i will flip through original power point with pictures that i created to go along with my very brief lecture. students must only listen to the lesson from me to answer the blank lines in their fill in the blank worksheet 1. inform students that their homework is to correctly label a map worksheet with the continents and oceans they have learned today. 3. learning disability: working with peers provides extra support, i’ll walk about to monitor and encourage progress, close proximity when possible, visual images on power point, and continent song 1. i will check through inquiry that students understand and are completing their fill in the blank throughout the lesson.
